The head of Ofcom, the U.K’s media regulator, is a frontrunner to become director-general of the BBC, The Sunday Times reported, without saying where it got its information.
Ed Richards, chief executive officer of Ofcom, is expected to apply for the post that will become vacant when Mark Thompson stands down in the autumn, the newspaper said. The deadline for applications is tomorrow, it added. Richards declined to comment, the paper reported.
