GM to Cease Production of Astra Model at German Plant, FAZ Says

May 06, 2012

General Motors Co. (GM:US) plans to stop making the Opel Astra model at its plant in the German town of Ruesselsheim, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported, citing unidentified people close to labor-union officials.

The decision to build the next generation of the car only at facilities in England and Poland starting in 2015 will be announced in mid-May, the newspaper said, citing the people, who said they were aware of comments on the matter by Steve Girsky, GM’s vice chairman.
