Russia Equity Movers: Gazprom, Norilsk Nickel, Globaltrans

The 30-stock Micex Index (INDEXCF) advanced 1.3 percent to 1,466.06 by 4:08 p.m. in Moscow, its biggest gain in more than a week.

The following are among the most active stocks in the Russian market today. Stock symbols are in parenthesis.

OAO Gazprom (GAZP RX) jumped 2.3 percent to 167.87 rubles, headed for its biggest increase this month. Russia’s natural gas export monopoly posted fourth-quarter profit today that beat analysts’ estimates.

Globaltrans Investment Plc (GLTR) climbed the most since Sept. 7, adding 9.2 percent to $19.25 in London trading. The rail-freight operator acquired the railway unit of Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov’s iron-ore producer Metalloinvest.

OAO GMK Norilsk Nickel (GMKN RX) rallied for the first time in five days, surging 2.1 percent to 5,192 rubles. Usmanov said he’s boosting the stake he controls in the world’s largest nickel producer.
