U.S. Stocks Pare Gains as Apple Drags Down Technology Shares

U.S. stocks pared gains as technology shares retreated, dragged down by Apple Inc. (AAPL:US)’s 10th decline in 11 days as investors await the company’s quarterly report after markets close today.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.2 percent to 1,369.14 at 2:31 p.m. New York time, trimming its advance from 0.6 percent. Computer-related stocks in the index slumped 0.9 percent. Apple decreased 2.4 percent, extending its drop since April 9 to 12 percent.
