The ruble strengthened against the dollar for the first time in three days, gaining 0.4 percent to 29.4900 rubles at the close in Moscow.
The Russian currency was little changed against the central bank’s target dollar-euro basket at 33.6581.
The ruble lost 0.2 percent to 38.7525 per euro.
