Cherop Wins Women’s Championship in Boston

Sharon Cherop of Kenya pulled away with 600 meters to go, then held off Jemima Sumgong by two seconds to win the women’s championship in the Boston Marathon.

Cherop’s unofficial time was 2 hours, 31 minutes, 50 seconds on a day with record-high temperatures in the forecast.
