Bank of Canada Buys C$1.34 Billion of Securities for One Day

The Bank of Canada said it bought C$1.34 billion ($1.34 billion) of securities for one day in a program that seeks to keep overnight lending rates close to its target of 1 percent.

The central bank increased the amount of today’s purchases after initially reporting a C$760 million total.
