Wigan defeated first-place Manchester United 1-0 in English soccer’s Premier League, while Manchester City beat West Bromwich 4-0.
Shaun Maloney scored the goal as Wigan moved out of the three relegation places at the bottom of the 20-team standings. The loss reduced United’s lead over second-place Manchester City, to five points.
Sergio Aguero scored two goals and Carlos Tevez and David Silva added one each as City routed West Brom to end a three- match winless run.
Arsenal won 3-0 at Wolverhampton and Queens Park Rangers beat Swansea 3-0 in tonight’s other games.
