Hungary’s benchmark BUX stock index dropped 0.9 percent to 17,874.85 as of the close in Budapest. The following were among the most active equities in the Hungarian market today. Stock symbols follow company names.
OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP) , Hungary’s largest lender, fell to the lowest close in almost three months after the news website Origo reported that Hungary plans to introduce a financial transaction tax from next year. The shares dropped 1.9 percent to 3,600 forint, the weakest level since Jan. 18.
Foldhitel es Jelzalogbank Nyrt. (FHB HB), a Hungarian mortgage lender, dropped 1.5 percent to 544 forint, the lowest on a closing basis in a month.
Est Media Vagyonkezelo Nyrt. (ESTMEDIA HB), a Hungarian entertainment company, capped the biggest five-day slide in 10 years. The company fell to the lowest on record after reporting at the end of last week that its fourth-quarter net loss widened. The shares declined 10 percent to 90 forint, extending the drop in the last five trading sessions to 46 percent.
