Philippine Equity Movers: Atlas Mining, Manila Electric

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Philippine (PASHR) trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 10:12 a.m. in Manila.

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PCOMP) rose 0.5 percent to 5,043.27.

Atlas Consolidated Mining & Development Corp. (AT) advanced 1.3 percent to 19.06 pesos, bound for the highest close since Jan. 30. The metals producer’s Carmen Copper Corp. unit shipped $32.8 million worth of copper, gold and magnetite in March, a stock-exchange filing showed.

Manila Electric Co. (MER) , the nation’s largest electricity retailer, gained 1.2 percent to 263 pesos, heading for the highest close since March 20. The stock jumped as much as 5.8 percent earlier today. The company said peak electricity demand in the country’s main island of Luzon rose more than 300 megawatts.
