Pemex May Seek Crude Project Offshore Cuba, La Jornada Says

April 09, 2012

Petroleos Mexicanos, the state-owned company known as Pemex, is seeking to explore and produce oil in Cuban waters in the Gulf of Mexico, La Jornada reported.

Mexico is in talks with Cuba to sign an accord between Cuba Petroleos and Pemex, the Mexico City-based newspaper reported, citing people familiar with the talks that it didn’t identify.

An agreement may be reached during this week’s visit of President Felipe Calderon to the Caribbean island, La Jornada said.
