Socialist challenger Francois Hollande’s approval rating rose more than President Nicolas Sarkozy’s did in April before the French presidential election, according to a poll by Ipsos for Le Point magazine.
Hollande’s rating this month gained four points to 57 percent while Sarkozy’s climbed two points to 40 percent, the pollster said today in a statement. The president’s disapproval rating fell 1 point to 58 percent in the period, according to the poll. Hollande’s disapproval rating in April was 40 percent.
Ipsos questioned 955 people on April 6-7. No margin of error was given. France holds two rounds of voting on April 22 and May 6.
