Former Vice President Dick Cheney was released from a Virginia hospital today after a March 24 heart transplant operation.

Cheney, 71, left Inova Fairfax Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute 10 days after the surgery, spokeswoman Kara Ahern said. He expressed thanks to medical teams and “deep gratitude to the donor” who remains unknown, according to the statement.
