Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell, a former member of the European Central Bank’s executive board, may be appointed president of the supervisory board of Oesterreichische Volksbanken AG (VBPS) at the bank’s next general assembly, replacing Hans Hofinger, Wiener Zeitung reported. Former Bawag board member Stefan Koren may be named chief executive officer, the newspaper said.
Volksbanken was bailed out earlier this year by the Austrian government.
