DoCoMo, KDDI Disrupted in Northern Japan After Storm

NTT DoCoMo Inc. (9437), KDDI Corp. (9433) and Softbank Corp. (9984), Japan’s largest mobile phone operators, said users in the country’s north are unable to make calls or send e- mails after power blackouts following strong winds.

DoCoMo users are experiencing problems in parts of seven prefectures, the Tokyo-based company said in a statement on its website. Some of KDDI’s customers in Akita prefecture are affected, while Softbank’s users are affected in Akita and Niigata prefectures, the companies said in separate statements today.
