Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA has room to open more branches in Italy, General Manager Fabrizio Viola told daily Il Sole 24 Ore in an interview.

The company also plans to gradually reduce its financial portfolio by at least 10 billion euros ($13 billion), Viola added, according to the newspaper.
