Oettinger Seeks EU Rig Safety Rules, Frankfurter Allgemeine Says

The European Union should agree on stricter safety rules for pumping oil and natural gas to be applied across the bloc, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung cited European Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger as saying.

The regulation of offshore drilling rigs is largely on a national basis, the Frankfurt-based newspaper said in an e- mailed summary of an article to be published tomorrow.
