Dutch sugar-beet planting was 36 percent completed as of March 26, according to data from industry researcher IRS.
The area rose from 2 percent the previous week, IRS reported on its website. Last year, farmers in the Netherlands had sown 71 percent of the beet crop as of March 28, while in 2010, 18 percent had been planted on March 29, according to IRS.
