Coca-Cola Co. (KO:US) today opened its 42nd bottling plant in China, a factory in the northeastern province of Liaoning that is its largest production facility in the country.
The beverage company invested $160 million in the 170,000- square-meter plant in Yingkou, part of the company’s three-year, $4 billion investment plan announced last year, it said in an e- mailed statement.
The plant, the third in Liaoning, will have annual production capacity of more than 5 billion sparkling and still beverages, including Coca-Cola, Sprite, Minute Maid and Ice Dew, it said.
Coca-Cola Chairman Muhtar Kent officiated at the opening of the plant, which will create 500 jobs, it said.
