Tullow Says Its Confident of Further Potential at Kenya Oil Well

March 27, 2012

Tullow Oil Plc (TLW), which announced yesterday it had made the first oil discovery in Kenya, said it expects to find more crude at the Ngamia-1 exploration well as it continues drilling.

“We are pretty confident there is further potential as we drill down,” Ian Cloke, Tullow’s exploration manager for southern and East Africa, said in a speech today at the Eastern Africa Oil, Gas & Energy Week in Nairobi, the capital.

Tullow said yesterday it found 20 meters (66 feet) of oil at Ngamia-1 in Block 10BB in northwestern Kenya after drilling to about a third of its target depth.
