Top-seeded Baylor University advanced to the Final Four of the National Collegiate Athletic Association women’s basketball tournament with a 77-58 rout of the University of Tennessee.
Brittney Griner had 23 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocked shots yesterday in Des Moines, Iowa, as Baylor improved to 38-0 on the season.
Baylor will face fellow No. 1 regional seed Stanford in the national semifinals on April 1 in Denver.
The Cardinal reached the Final Four with an 81-69 victory against Duke University in Fresno, California. Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 29 points and nine rebounds for Stanford, while her younger sister, Chiney Ogwumike, had 12 points and 17 rebounds (35-1).
Two more No. 1 regional seeds can advance to the Final Four today. Notre Dame faces second-seeded Maryland at the regional final in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Connecticut plays No. 2 Kentucky at the final in Kingston, Rhode Island.
The national championship game is scheduled for April 3.
