Afren Plc (AFR) plans to sink an offshore exploratory well in both Block L17/18 off Kenya and the adjoining Tanga Block in Tanzania in the second half of the year, said Patrick Obath, a company board member.
Drilling in Kenya’s Block 10A in the onshore northern Anza Basin may also begin between July and December, Obath told the Eastern Africa Oil, Gas & Energy Week in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, today. Afren holds a 20 percent stake in the concession, which is operated by Tullow Oil Plc (TLW), according to Afren’s website.
