Spanish Candidate May Head ESM, Mersch for ECB Seat: AFP

A Spanish candidate may be appointed at the helm of the European Stability Mechanism and Luxembourg’s Yves Mersch may in turn get a seat on the European Central Bank’s board, Agence France-Presse reported, citing an unidentified European official.

Germany’s Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble is the most likely candidate to win the Eurogroup presidency to succeed Jean-Claude Juncker, AFP said, citing another unidentified European official. AFP was reporting from a European meeting in Finland.
