Fourteen Companies Apply for Saudi Air License, Arab News Says

Fourteen companies applied for a license to operate an air carrier in Saudi Arabia, Arab News reported, citing a statement from the General Authority for Civil Aviation.

Local and regional companies as well as a Saudi-Chinese group with aviation experience have expressed interest, the Jeddah-based newspaper said.

Th aviation authority announced the license on Jan. 21. The airline will be able to operate domestic and international routes from Saudi airports as part of the government’s efforts to spur competition and create more travel options.
