GE’s Rice Applauds Australia’s Move to Impose Price on Carbon

March 24, 2012

General Electric Co. (GE) Vice Chairman John Rice said he applauds the Australian government’s moves to introduce a carbon tax as it will help companies, including his own, put more resources toward technology that cuts emissions.

“Over the long run the world is going to be better served if there is a cost associated with the production of carbon,” Rice told the Australian Broadcasting Corp.’s “Inside Business” program in an interview broadcast today in Sydney. “It’s hard to do and it takes gutsy politicians and so we applaud the Australian government.”
