Wales Wins Six Nations Rugby Grand Slam by Beating France 16-9

March 17, 2012

Wales beat France 16-9 to complete the Grand Slam in rugby’s Six Nations championship.

Alex Cuthbert scored a try and Leigh Halfpenny kicked 11 points for Wales, which won all five of its games in the tournament -- known as the Grand Slam -- to capture the title for the first time since 2008. It’s the third Grand Slam for the Welsh since the Six Nations format began in 2000.

Italy beat Scotland 13-6 earlier, while England hosts Ireland later in the tournament’s final match.
