U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne has nominated Suma Chakrabarti to be the new head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, going against a convention that the job goes to a non-British candidate, the Times of London reported.
Chakrabarti is currently the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Justice, the Times said. France proposed Philippe de Fontaine Vive Curtaz, vice president at the European Investment Bank, and Poland put forward former Prime Minister Jan Krzysztof Bielecki as its candidate, the newspaper reported.
