Ex-BASF Chief Doubts German Nuclear Closure by 2022, Focus Says

March 17, 2012

Former BASF SE (BAS) chief executive officer Juergen Hambrecht told Focus magazine that he doubts Germany will be able to close all the country’s nuclear power plants by 2022 as planned.

Hambrecht was quoted in a Focus interview as saying that some nuclear power stations might have to remain in operation beyond the deadline because more time is needed to develop battery systems to store power and build expanded electricity transmission lines in Germany.
