March 13, 2012

VimpelCom Ltd. (VIP) said it swung to a net loss in the fourth quarter because of non-cash items and increased interest expenses after the Russian mobile operator bought Wind Telecom SpA last year.

The company reported a net loss of $386 million compared with net income of $461 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, VimpelCom said today in a statement.

Pro forma sales rose about 4.3 percent to $5.88 billion, VimpelCom said.
