Turkey invited Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) to bid for a contract to provide 15 million tablet computers to schoolchildren over four years, Haberturk newspaper reported.
Industry Minister Nihat Ergun met Nokia Vice President Esko Aho in Ankara yesterday to discuss the Fatih project to assist schools and develop high-technology industry in Turkey, the newspaper said.
The auction for the project may take place in one or two months, the newspaper said. Legislation before parliament this week would exempt the process from public procurement laws, the newspaper said, citing the draft bill.
