The Brazilian Supreme Court, which is judging the government’s right to tax foreign units of Brazilian companies, is scheduled to make its final ruling on the case on March 15, according to the tribunal’s website.
Justice Joaquim Barbosa is the only member of the Court that still needs to vote on the case, the Supreme Court’s press office said in an e-mail today. The case against the taxes was filed by Brazil’s National Industry Confederation.
Vale SA (VALE3), the world’s biggest iron-ore producer, is among Brazilian companies challenging the tax policy.
