March 12, 2012

Colombia’s tax revenue may rise to 100 trillion pesos ($56.7 billion) this year, Juan Ricardo Ortega, head of the country’s tax agency, said in an interview with Bogota-based Portafolio newspaper.

Finance Minister Juan Carlos Echeverry said in December that the government is targeting tax collection of 88 trillion pesos in 2012, after revenue surged 25 percent to 84 trillion pesos in 2011.

The government is preparing a tax bill that will be sent to Congress this year.
