Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index rose 0.4 percent to 8,016.01. The gauge dropped 1.2 percent this week, the first loss in nine weeks.
AU Optronics Corp. (2409) (2409 TT) increased 3.6 percent to NT$16, the highest close since Feb. 16. The flat-panel maker’s February sales rose 3.7 percent from a year earlier to NT$26.67 billion ($905 million), it said in a statement.
Wistron Corp. (3231) (3231 TT) gained 1.2 percent to NT$47.20. The laptop maker’s February sales surged 68 percent to NT$52 billion, the company said in a statement.
