Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Taiwan trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 1:30 p.m. close in Taipei.
The benchmark Taiex Index fell 1.4 percent to 8,004.74.
Hiwin Technologies Corp. (2049) (2049 TT), a ball-bearing maker, sank 6.9 percent to NT$316.50, the lowest since Feb. 17, after saying its February sales slumped 23 percent from a year ago.
Inotera Memories Inc. (3474) (3474 TT) declined 1.1 percent to NT$8.85, the biggest retreat since Feb. 24. The chip company said February sales fell 5.3 percent from a year earlier to NT$2.6 billion, according to a statement to the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
Nanya Printed Circuit Board Corp. (8046) (8046 TT) slumped 5.4 percent to NT$70.40, the biggest drop since Nov. 30. The integrated circuit board maker’s February sales fell 17 percent from a year earlier to NT$2.2 billion.
Powertech Technology Inc. (6239) (6239 TT) gained 0.7 percent to NT$57.10, the steepest increase since Feb. 22. The company was raised to “neutral” from “sell” at SinoPac Securities Corp.
Ruentex Development Co. (9945) (9945 TT), which has stakes in China’s largest hypermarket operator, sank 7 percent to NT$38.60, the most since Nov. 25, after the nation pared the economic growth target to 7.5 percent, the lowest since 2004.
