Blackstone Hires China Dealmakers From Carlyle, Morgan Stanley

March 05, 2012

Blackstone Group LP (BX) said it hired Luo Yi from Carlyle Group LP and Edward Huang from Morgan Stanley to help expand in Greater China.

Luo joined the firm in January as senior managing director and is based in Shanghai, according to an e-mailed statement from Blackstone. Huang was hired earlier this month from Morgan Stanley’s private equity unit as a managing director based in Hong Kong, Blackstone said. Both executives report to Michael Chae, Blackstone’s Asia-Pacific head of private equity.

“We are committed to continue to build a formidable team for Blackstone in Asia and we are delighted to have Yi Luo and Ed Huang come on board as significant senior members of this team,” Chae said in the press release.
