Chilean Stocks: Masisa, SAAM and Sud Americana de Vapores

The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Santiago.

The Ipsa (IPSA) index fell 0.2 percent to 4,552.34. The MSCI Chile (MXCL) index dropped 0.6 percent to 2,630.48.

Cia. Sud Americana de Vapores SA (VAPORES CC) advanced 3.2 percent to 43.07 pesos. Chile’s biggest container shipping company surged 21 percent yesterday after factoring in the spinoff of its port logistics unit Soc. Matriz SAAM SA (SMSAAM), which began trading yesterday as a separate unit. SAAM slid 2.8 percent to 60.96 pesos.

Masisa SA (MASISA) gained 2.3 percent to 53.82 pesos, the highest price since Oct. 13 and its fourth day of gains. The Chilean wood panels producer is expected to report full-year 2011 results March 6, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
