Santander Deal Shows Polish Stability, Regulator Tells Prawna

March 01, 2012

The decision by Banco Santander SA (SAN) to take over KBC Groep NV (KBC)’s local unit Kredyt Bank SA (KRB) shows investors have “a very positive” evaluation of the Polish banking system’s stabiliy and growth potential, Wojciech Kwasniak, deputy chairman of the country’s financial market regulator, told Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

The deal is a “good response” to the negative view taken by some rating companies on the banking system, Kwasniak said, the newspaper reported.
