Feb. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Powerchip Technology Corp. has no accounts receivable due from Elpida Memory Inc. and stopped supplying to the failed Japanese chipmaker during the fourth quarter, spokesman Eric Tang said by phone today.
Elpida’s bankruptcy, filed yesterday in Japan, will be positive for the memory chip market, he said.
Operations at Powerchip’s Taichung, Taiwan-based Rexchip Electronics Corp. venture with Elpida are handled by the Japanese chipmaker and it is too early to assess any effects on the venture, Tang said. Powerchip uses some Elpida technology for specialty memory products and expects no interruption to manufacturing, he said.
