Hungary Stocks: OTP, FHB Bank, Magyar Telekom Move in Budapest

Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Hungary’s benchmark BUX stock index gained 1.6 percent to 19,372.48 as of the close in Budapest. The following are among the most active equities in the Hungarian market today. Stock symbols follow company names.

OTP Bank Nyrt. (OTP HB), Hungary’s largest lender, rose 3.3 percent to 4,040 forint. Hungary’s retail sales increased 1.5 percent in December compared with a year earlier, exceeding economists’ estimates in a Bloomberg survey.

Foldhitel es Jelzalogbank Nyrt. (FHB HB), a Hungarian mortgage lender, increased 6.9 percent to 543 forint. The lender bought back covered mortgage bonds and European bank stocks advanced.

Magyar Telekom Nyrt. (MTEL HB), Hungary’s former phone monopoly, climbed 0.9 percent to 591 forint in a third day of gains. The company announced a dividend after its 2011 earnings yesterday.
