Feb. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Iran’s unemployment rate stood at 11.8 percent in December, Tehran Times reported, citing data from Iran’s Statistics Center.

The country had reported a rate of 11.1 percent in September. Iran plans to cut unemployment to 7 percent by the end of 2012, Labor Minister Abdolreza Sheikholeslami has said, according to the newspaper. The ministry has proposed a plan for sending up to 100,000 laborers abroad by 2015, and identified 18 potential host countries, it said.

The working population was 25 million as of a year ago, the Tehran Times said.
