EU’s Rehn Says Agreement Is Essential Step Forward for Greece

Feb. 21 (Bloomberg) -- European Union Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Olli Rehn said euro-area finance ministers reached “a far-reaching and important agreement” on the second bailout package for Greece.

The agreement “which will substantially reduce the debt burden of Greece and will help to reform the economy and administration so as to return to growth and creating jobs,” Rehn said today in an e-mailed statement. “It is an essential step further for Greece and for the euro area as a whole, and this program is supported by a very substantial contribution by the private sector.”
