(Updates with comment from mayor’s office in second paragraph.)
Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Seoul Mayor Park Won Soon will join South Korea’s main opposition Democratic United Party, his office and party said today.
Park will join the party next week, the DUP, as the party is also know, said in a statement on its website, without specifying a date. Yoon Jong Jang, a director in the Seoul city government’s press department, confirmed the mayor’s plan in a telephone call, without providing further details.
Park won the election for Seoul mayor as an independent in October, dealing a blow to the ruling party ahead of elections for South Korea’s legislature in April and for president in December.
