China’s Foreign Trade Situation Is Still ‘Grim,’ Mofcom Says

Feb. 16 (Bloomberg) -- China’s foreign trade situation is still ‘grim’ and downward pressure on the global economy is increasing, Shen Danyang, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, said in Beijing today.

The slowdown in China’s January trade was due to the effects of the New Year holiday and the tighter external and domestic environment, he said. Still, the trade data last month don’t signal the trend for the whole year, he said.
