Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Barclays Bank Plc’s Tanzanian unit returned to profit last year.
Net income totaled 3 billion shillings ($1.9 million) in the 12 months through December after a loss of 4.8 billion shillings a year earlier, Barclays Bank Tanzania said in a statement published in the Daily News newspaper today. Net interest income, the money banks earn from interest charges on loans, fell 0.4 percent to 28.2 billion shillings, the Dar es Salaam-based lender said.
