Vodafone is ‘Disappointed’ by U.K. Mobile Termination Rate Cuts

February 14, 2012

Feb. 14 (Bloomberg) -- Vodafone Group Plc said it’s “very disappointed” by the U.K. Competition Commission’s decision to bring forward mobile-phone termination rate cuts by one year.

The move will harm consumers as it will become unsustainable for operators to “continue subsidising the high cost of mobile handsets for pay as you go users,” Vodafone said in an e-mailed statement.

The U.K. will bring forward cuts to the fees that operators can charge each other for connections by one year, watchdog Ofcom said earlier today, citing the Competition Commission.
