Australia’s Combet Says Government Talking to Alcoa on Plant

Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Australia’s Industry Minister Greg Combet said the government is talking to Alcoa Inc. about the future of its Point Henry aluminum smelter after the company said it was reviewing its viability amid higher costs and a rising Australian dollar. The government can’t “underwrite” currency risk for the industry, Combet told Australian Broadcasting Corp. television today.
