Brazil Credit for Big Business Moderately Restrictive, Bank Says
February 10, 2012, 11:36 AM ESTBy Andre Soliani
Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Credit for large Brazilian companies was “moderately restrictive” in the final three months of last year and will remain so in the first quarter of 2012, said Carlos Hamilton, the central bank’s director of economic policy, citing a survey of 22 large enterprises and banks done by the bank in December.
Credit to large businesses was affected by liquidity, Hamilton said at an event in Fortaleza. Credit for smaller enterprises and consumers was also restrictive in the last quarter of 2011 and will be for the next three months because of delinquency rates, Hamilton said.
