Hartford Evaluates Split of Firm, Finds ‘Significant Challenges’

Feb. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. evaluated splitting the firm’s life insurance and property- casualty businesses and found “significant challenges,” Chief Executive Officer Liam McGee said.
“This management team is very focused on managing the levers we control,” McGee said today in a conference call with analysts. “We will be objective and pragmatic of the types of actions to realize our goal” of increasing value for shareholders.
