EU’s Barroso Says No Reason to Speak About Default in Portugal

February 05, 2012

Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- European Commission President Jose Barroso said today that there is no reason to speak about a default in his home country of Portugal, which he said can overcome its difficulties.

“Portugal has been carrying out its aid program with success,” Barroso told a conference in Lisbon. “There is no reason whatsoever at this time to talk about default or to feed on catastrophic scenarios.” He said he is convinced that Portugal will be “able to overcome its difficulties.”
