Feb. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Demand for extra gas in Europe to deal with unusually cold weather shows the need for the Russian- backed Nord Stream and South Stream gas pipelines, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said, RIA Novosti reported.
“Today it wouldn’t be out of place to recall the people who hampered our construction of Nord Stream,” Putin was cited as saying by the state-run news service. “If they hadn’t interfered, there would already be a second branch and it would be loaded.”
